The production process of palm oil can be divided into four aspects: crude oil pressing, crude oil refining, palm kernel oil pressing and waste treatment. Its general production process is shown in the following figure:
Sterilizing: Sterilizing refers to cooking oil palm fruit in horizontal/vertical Sterilizer with 300 kPa steam at 145 ℃ for about 90-120 minutes. This can destroy the fatty acid enzymes in oil palm fruit and avoid the increase of FFA in oil. In addition, high-temperature fermentation can make the fruit soft, easy to mechanical threshing, conducive to subsequent peeling of the core, reduce the damage of the kernels.
Threshing: Oil palm grains accounted for about 67% of the weight of the whole bundle. The purpose of threshing is to separate the oil palm fruit from the bundle and make the subsequent oil pressing more efficient. We usually use the Thresher to shake off the threshing work.
Digesting: The purpose of mashing and Digesting is to tear the epidermis of the fruit, separate the pulp from the pit, and mash the pulp tissue. At the same time, heating makes the pulp soft and destroys the pulp cell structure. The optimum cooking conditions are 90-100 C, 20-30 min, and the mashing rate is about 95%. The equipment used in this process is Vertical Digester.
Pressing: Oil pressing generally adopts Continuous Double Screw Press, equipped with hydraulic device. It has a horizontal box with holes, which is S-crossed, with two screws inside, and a calibrating pie head at the slag discharge port of the box. It can control the pressure to ensure the minimum residual oil in the cake and adjust the crushing rate of the core to a reasonable range. Oil palm fruit is pressed and divided into two parts: a mixture of oil, water and solid impurities; fibers and pits. The residual oil rate of crushing residue is 6-8%, and the core crushing rate is less than 7-9%.
